Ultimate Mashup

J Brand shows off its inner anglophile by collaborating with super Brit Hussein Chalayan on a denim capsule collection. This collection displays a hint of avant-garde and maintains the cerebral qualities of Chalayan. The collection consists of three styles, 'The Beau', 'The Legging' (above) and 'The Circuit'. We predict 'The Legging' will be an instant favourite when and if it arrives on our shores. Chalayan has this to say about the collaboration:"Translating my designs within a denim context has offered me the opportunity to continue the exploration of a longstanding brand aesthetic". Wear with caution.

The Pirelli Aussies 2010

Abbey Lee Kershaw & Terry Richardson

Miranda Kerr

Catherine McNeil
There will be a strong Aussie representation in the Pirelli calendar next year. So if you have created a start up this year, scored more than a few international accounts and made 30 million dollars, there may be a chance Pirelli will add you to their gift list.

The Pirelli Calendar has become an annual publication that belies its origin in 1964 as merely a trade calendar published by the Pirelli company's UK subsidiary. The calendar is famous for its limited availability because it is not sold and is only given as a corporate gift to a restricted number of important Pirelli customers and celebrity VIPs. The Pirelli Calendar is perhaps the world's only prestigious and exclusive "girly" calendar, featuring pictures generally considered glamour photography including artistic nudes.

Uniform Project Collaboration

Diecast Agency was invited to Gorman's studio in Paddington yesterday and we were well impressed with their design philosophy and environmental awareness. Gorman has kindly provided us with various organic pieces for the Uniform Project which Shay is styling for. No sneak peak yet but there will be images to follow when our concept is finalised.

Gorman has also loaned us a pig made from leather off-cuts. He is precious to them so the Uniform Project will have to return him when he's done with his modelling gig in New York. Lucky pig.

Pig has a name, Patch. And very soon, Patch will be accumulating frequent flyer points as he journeys to the Big Apple. Who said pigs can't fly...

Monkey and the BrownMan

Diecast Agency spent some time this winter with Monkey and the BrownMan consulting on their direction and strategies. We are very glad indeed to be considered a part of M&BM's family. This special surf inspired label represents the future of sustainable fashion in Australia.

Well played Shazza

Sharon Stone, 50 and topless for Paris Match August issue. Alix Malka shoots Sharon in her full glory as she remonstrates against the dictatorship of age in glamour magazines.
Here is an excerpt of her magazine interview with Marc Levy:
"Dans les magazines de mode, tout est ordonné par âge, un vrai diktat ! Voici ce que vous devez mettre à 20 ans, puis à 30, et à 40. Je ne me suis jamais coulée dans un moule et je nem'habillerai pas comme on le souhaite, par convenance...Ces photos sont très graphiques etmontrent la femme comme une œuvre d'architecture, comme une sculpture dont les formes nesont pas si éloignées de celles que sculptait Rodin, c'est comme cela que je les vois."
Roughly translates to : 50 yr old women deserve the right to be airbrushed and touched-up too.

Nonetheless we salute you Sharon, truly!

Tuesday Morning with David Jones

Best reason to stay in schools boys... so that you can grow up to be a power player in the rag trade. No one will dare mind your silly tie or your accountant who may have a liberal interpretation of decorum (far left). Blessed is the Tuesday morning without champagne.

The Agency found itself among the "winnners" of high stakes influence peddling during last Tuesdays DJ Spring Summer launch. Along with the usual suspects, 4 yr old label Thurley debuted for DJ and staked its claim by opening the show. We would like to quote one of our favourite blogs, "Fashion is a sport with fixed betting. It's not for light weights and certainly not for the naive. High stakes Fashion tends to be played by it's own rules with weighted dice. Very little happens by chance. Almost never does someone come from the Port of Authority with a Singer sewing machine and a dream and end up as Creative Director of Liz Claiborne. It doesn't happen." - The Emperor's old clothes
